The Need for Raffle Tickets
It’s that time of year for some mega fundraising, and I’m acquiring the spirit. I am doing a lot of fundriasing for an organization I am a volunteer leader for called YoungLife. It’s a non-profit organization and I’ve been working with them for just about 8 years. at any rate, we are raising money for the students we work with to go to our summertime camps. These camps are these breathtaking, awe-inspiring places that students get to go for 5-7 days and they are set all over the United States . However, this year the cost of camps went up so we are having to fundraise more than usual for kids to be able to go on the trip.
I believe my favorite fundraiser to do when this time of the year comes along is a raffle fundraiser. Raffles are great because they have very low investment costs and have potentially high returns. Especially if you can get your raffle prizes donated, which isn’t hard to do at all. Actually a lot of businesses like the advertising they receive when they do donate something. Raffles are a perfect fundraiser to do along side of another fundraiser as well. You can do raffles along side of bake sales, car washes, pasta dinners, etc. Raffle tickets are very inexpensive to buy, which helps out so much. We threw our own pasta dinner fundraiser this year which we did along side of a raffle, and it went perfectly .
We got our own raffle tickets printed up, which was the first time we’ve ever done that. It was neat to be able to pick out our own raffle ticket template and use them as a way of advertising our YoungLife group. It really gave our raffle an extra touch of uniqueness. The prizes we got donated were great prizes. We had a Twilight gift basket worth $300 , gift cards to various popular restaurants, and a vacation to Kiawah Island, South Carolina. We just sold the tickets before and at the dinner, and proclaimed the prize winners there too. To help boost our ticket sales, five minutes before the drawing we cut the cost of the tickets in half. It worked out so well. Needless to say , it was a great night and raffles are the best !
